Her proven success in implementing global payroll and HR systems, architecting incentive compensation and sales commission plans, and managing company acquisitions and integrations uniquely positions her as an industry expert in delivering customized business solutions by aligning reward strategies to business objectives.
Before spearheading the merger with Compensation Works, Ann was President of Appian Resources, an HR consulting firm specializing in customized solutions to analytical challenges in compensation and benefits.
Prior to that, her positions included Director of Worldwide Compensation, Benefits and HRIS at Corbis, Senior Director of Compensation and Benefits at Providence Health & Services, Director of Global Total Rewards at Russell Investments, and Director of HR at ComTek in Washington, D.C.
Ann is on the Board of Directors of the Northwest Compensation and Rewards Forum, and an active volunteer for local non-profit organizations including, Seattle Children’s Hospital and the Make-A-Wish® Foundation. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Illinois University, and certifications for Certified Compensation Professional (CCP®) and Professional in Human Resources (PHR®).
Building on an extensive background in for-profit, non-profit, tech and government, Colt today has turned his attention to sales, marketing and operational efficiency. A dynamic and passionate futurist, Colt’s greatest strength is in aiding clients in anticipating problems and taking the actions necessary to prevent those problems. A great team builder, he is effective at both removing obstacles and developing infrastructure.
Colt was also the founder and for five years the president of VentureHire, a retained search firm specializing in high growth technology companies. In addition, he acted as North America’s Managing Director of Talent Acquisition for HR outsourcing company Tri-Net. His career in talent search began as Business Development Manager and Executive Search Consultant for ROI International, specializing in serving wireless telecommunications companies.

Aimee is an accomplished human resources and change leader with a broad background in human resources leadership.
She has over 30 years of experience in senior HR leadership roles with an emphasis in compensation and benefits, HR operations (systems, processes, policies and compliance), mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, and change management.
Aimee’s compensation experience includes developing job titling and salary structures, designing and administering base pay programs that tie compensation to both corporate and individual performance, and developing incentive compensation programs including sales commission, broad-based bonus programs and phantom stock programs. Aimee is experienced with market analysis, modeling, executive compensation, and administration of compensation programs.
Aimee has re-engineering payroll and HR processes to be SOX compliant and scalable, and has led complex integrations of compensation and benefits programs through M&A. In addition, Aimee has successfully led vendor RFP and company processes, acquisitions, mergers, divestitures and relocations, and corporate re-organizations and downsizings.
Prior to joining Compensation Works, Aimee led Moss Adams’ implementation of their first HR system, led the global HR Operations function at Russell Investments for six years, and was the head of HR for Russell/Mellon Analytical Services, where she established and led the global HR function for eight years. Over Aimee’s career, she has performed HR consulting for eight years for various clients and she is thrilled to be working at Compensation Works.
Mary Freiburger brings over twenty-five years of human resources experience conducting comprehensive competitive pay analyses to ensure clients are offering competitive total rewards packages. She has managed base pay and cash compensation programs for companies in many industries, including technology, finance, legal, hospitality, retail insurance, non-profit, and healthcare.
Mary works closely with her clients to assess their needs and make recommendations to ensure their external market competitiveness and internal equity. She has designed compensation-related programs, such as internal pay structures, job families, and related job leveling. She has extensive experience using data from highly regarded salary surveys to determine the market price of positions. In addition, Mary has provided training and guidance on how to effectively use compensation systems, forecasted merit increase costs and incentive plan payouts for companies, and led strategic planning retreats for executive teams to identify human resources priorities, design company policies, and develop implementation plans.
Her global compensation experience includes market pricing of positions and designing pay structures for companies with locations in Asia, Africa, Canada, Argentina, and the United Kingdom. Mary's expertise extends to incentive pay programs, merit and salary budget planning, performance management, and the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Mary’s background as a business analyst implementing HRMS (Human Resource Management System) for large companies provides her with problem solving tools for the unique challenges associated with analyzing and reporting complex data.
Mary graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A. and a certification in Human Resources Management.
Carolyn brings over 15+ years of Compensation experience with companies in the healthcare, global technology, and non-profit industries. One of her strengths is her ability to develop rapport and credibility with Clients and HR Partners. She is skilled in data analysis and is able to identify critical data components, trends for her clients. Carolyn holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Washington University and is certified through World at Work as a Certified Compensation Professional.
Katie Jesunas has been working in Human Resources for over nine years, with most of that time spent focused specifically on compensation and benefits. Her experience prior to Compensation Works was in the manufacturing, technology, and gambling industries. Since joining Compensation Works in 2015, she has enjoyed working with companies large and small, covering a wide variety of industries. Her areas of expertise include market pricing, pay structure design, and benefit plan administration. Katie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Quincy University.
Sarah has a Business Administration degree with a concentration in leadership from the University of Puget Sound. Her human resources experience began with an internship working for a city government where she experienced contract negotiations and hiring practices for police and firefighting teams. From there she started to be a recruiter and a trainer for a wholesale grocery distributor. Sarah led several training programs for managers and advised them on administering company policy.
She started working in benefits when she used to work for a school district where she learned about public employees benefits as well as the retirement system. Her next position allowed her to hone her benefits skills for a small architectural and engineering company by solely administering their entire benefits program, managing their benefits billing process, negotiating benefit renewals directly with carriers, and processing benefits enrollment in the payroll system as well as with the carriers systems.
In her most recent position, before working at Compensation Works, she worked in a large benefits department within the travel industry where they outsourced most benefits programs through third party administrators. Her responsibility mainly focused on managing the relationship and any escalations with the TPA's and implementing any new benefit programs the company would introduce. Sarah was also the primary contact with the employees to provide information and solve any issues they may experience.
Within all of these positions she has experienced and at times managed the annual benefits enrollment process for the company, including communications and presentations to employees, coordination of benefit fairs with partners and vendors, and mainly ensuring a smooth transition for the employees.
Kathy Marek, SPHR, CCP, SHRM-SCP has twenty years of experience in the human resources. Her experience with a broad range of organizations from commercial fishing to insurance gives her a unique ability to effectively work in a variety of company cultures. Her position prior to Compensation Works was as a Human Resources Consultant with PEMCO Mutual Insurance Company. There she worked with management from an alliance of companies in industries that included Banking, Credit Card Processing and Information Technology. She has been with Compensation Works for several years working with a variety of organizations on a diverse range of projects.
Her professional knowledge base in Human Resources includes employment, compensation, benefits, legal review, employee relations, FLSA analysis and regulatory reporting. She has a proven ability to serve as a strong resource in all areas of compensation including market benchmark, communication, performance management, program roll-out and program training facilitation. Her ability and desire to gain an understanding of an organization makes her an effective partner, with who can communicate at all levels of an organization.
Kathy is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources, SHRM Senior Certified Professional and a certified Compensation Professional. She is a graduate of Western Washington University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Marketing.

Michele Pickle has more than 14 years developing, implementing and managing HR solutions across several industries and is an expert in the field of HR compensation and rewards. As a consultant, she draws from all of her previous experience to bring compensation and reward solutions that work for today’s changing environment.
Michele was previously VP, Rewards at Washington Mutual in Seattle, WA where she successfully led a team of analysts who provided competitive market analysis, job documentation and analysis, structure design, compensation program design and pay system implementation. During this time, she also was a leader in an initial pay for performance program, developed a comprehensive rewards strategy and oversaw the selection and implementation of online tools used for salary and reward planning.
Prior to Washington Mutual, she spent three years with Eddie Bauer/Spiegel in Redmond, WA where, as a Sr. Analyst, she was responsible for salary planning & budgeting, pay structure design, competitive market analysis, pay for performance, incentive pay design and administration.
Michele began her HR career in healthcare, having worked for three years at Group Health Cooperative in Seattle, WA and Harris Methodist Hospital in Ft, Worth, TX where she was a professional recruiter before moving her HR specialty to compensation.
Jenalle Wentworth joined Compensation Works in 2015. As Executive Assistant, Jenalle is active and readily available to clients at every stage of their project. Jenalle’s role is complimented by her diverse background in social services, government, education, media, and marketing. Prior to joining Compensation Works, Jenalle was instrumental in the establishment of the U.S. presence of an international research school for neuroplasticity. The personalized and professional culture Compensation Works offers for their team allows Jenalle to connect individually to each client which Jenalle enjoys most about her position.
Caryl has been with Compensation Works since 2015 and has worked in the Human Resources field for over 20 years, specializing in all aspects of compensation, and benefits administration. Caryl has extensive experience both in corporate and consulting roles in the hospitality industry at Starwood Hotels & Resorts, LXR Luxury Resorts & Hotels, and Morgans Hotel Group, and in high tech industries at XO Communications, and Monet Mobile Networks. Caryl provides hands-on expertise as well as project management leadership through all phases of Human Resources projects including design, analysis and implementation.
